THQ Nordic Games Editorial Review
The reception of the Gothic 1 Remake has been overwhelmingly negative, particularly among players who expected more from a title released on modern Consoles like the PS5 Pro. Many customers who previously enjoyed the original game expressed disappointment over the lack of a performance mode, with the game running at a capped 30fps. This limitation has led to a frustrating experience, especially given the typically higher performance capabilities of current-gen Consoles. Gamers noted that despite the graphics claiming to utilize Unreal Engine 5, the gameplay felt outdated, reminiscent of earlier Console generations rather than displaying improvements expected from a remake. Users have also criticized the inclusion of substantial download requirements for the physical copies, which detracts from the appeal of owning a disc version of the game. Overall, customers feel that the remake has not delivered on its promises, describing it as a poor experience that does not justify its price point, leading some to recommend potential buyers steer clear until significant updates are released. **
