The Loon Outdoors Core Fly Tying Kit is a set of small, well-made tools, including a bobbin holder, whip finish tool, hackle pliers, and scissors that are comfortable to use and a good choice for beginner fly tyers. The kit comes with a nice plastic tool box and foam inserts that securely hold each tool in place, making transportation easy. The workmanship and quality of the materials seems good, although the finish on some of the tools can be sloppy, and there are some design flaws, such as the hackle pliers being difficult to squeeze and the bobbin holder having a very small inside diameter tube that requires a threader. While some customers find the price of the kit to be too high and feel that they have better quality tools for less money, others believe that the Loon Outdoors Core Fly Tying Kit is worth the investment, especially compared to cheaper starter kits.
